Lewis County joins cities and counties nationwide to increase awareness of the positive work economic developers do to enhance local economic impact

LOWVILLE, NY – Lewis County Economic Development is marking National Economic Development Week from May 6-11, 2019 to celebrate the contributions of positive economic development and explain the role of the profession in our local community, including stewardship of:

  • Policies that government undertakes to meet broad economic objectives including high employment and sustainable growth.
  • Policies and programs to provide services such as building highways, managing parks, and other community development initatives.
  • Policies and programs explicitly directed at improving the business climate through specific efforts, business finance, marketing, neighborhood development, business retention and expansion, technology transfer, real estate development and others.

“National Economic Development Week is a great way to showcase the various projects we are currently undergoing to spur business growth and development within Lewis County – a few of which include the Center for Business in Lowville, NY, and the Lyons Falls Mill Project, in Lyons Falls, NY, but more importantly, to also to showcase our roles here within the county and how our initiatives can have a positive impact on communities," Brittany Davis, Lewis County Economic Development.

Now in its fourth year, National Economic Development Week was created by the International Economic Development Council, the largest professional membership organization for economic developers, in 2016 to recognize the unique role that economic development has in creating vibrant communities with strong economies. More than 250 communities participated in the 2018 campaign across the U.S. and Canada. Cities, counties and states recognized the week in past through official proclamations, local community events, and informational campaigns online and through social media. The United States Economic Development Administration (EDA) has also issued a statement commemorating Economic Development Week in past years.

Lewis County Economic Development will be showcasing current projects and initiatives on their website, Facebook, Linkedin & Instagram pages during this week.  Visit naturallylewis.com, the Naturally Lewis social media pages, or email brittany@naturallylewis.com, to learn more on the economic development roles within Lewis County.
