Constableville Auction Hall, a long-time Lewis County business, has recently been acquired by two McDonald cousins in Southern Lewis County.  Read more on their start-up story below!

Describe Your Start-Up Story. 

Our startup story isn't so much of a startup story as it is a story of finding a career that complements our interests and abilities.

Tyler acquired a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wyoming in 2009 and obtained his professional engineering license in 2013.  Although a great profession, the prospect of owning and operating his own business was always the goal.  After being asked to and completing some charity benefit auctions, it became apparent that being an auctioneer was the career path Tyler should take. 

Mark, an entrepreneur out of the gate, started Riverside Motors in 2009 and has grown it to a very successful car dealership.  Being cousins, Tyler and Mark spend a lot of time together and often would discuss business opportunities.  It was one of those conversations when Tyler floated the idea about owning and operating an auction business that the prospect was born. 

They reached out to June and Duane Delair, who operated the Constableville Auction Hall at the time, and inquired about the potential of selling the business.  It turned out that they were, in fact, considering retiring and negotiations quickly began.  The McDonald cousins closed on the purchase of the business in May 2018. 

Why did you choose to do business in lewis County?

Lewis County is our home and will always be our home.  We could think of no better place to own and operate a business. 

What are the advantages of doing business in Lewis COunty? 

For the auction business, the people who attend and consign to our auctions are one of the advantages.  We have such a variety of great and trustworthy people that attend and consign to our auctions. 

What advice would you give to someone starting a business in lewis County? 

You don't know unless you try.  We still don't know, but we'll keep trudging in the right direction.
