Naturally Lewis, Inc. Awards $103,600 to Lewis County Businesses
LEWIS COUNTY - Naturally Lewis, Inc., who administers the services of the Lewis County Development Corporation, has announced the recipients of the Building Business Fund, an opportunity designed to provide matching funds to businesses looking to scale-up their business operations through various “tools,” and Small Things, Big Impacts Fund, an opportunity to provide matching funds to businesses and organizations looking to increase their visibility. A total of $103,600 has been awarded to eight businesses in Lewis County; the awarded projects are estimated to have an impact of over $334,000 for the local economy.
The Building Business Fund aims to assist businesses that are looking to expand or diversify their business and demonstrate an overall benefit to the community with matching grants greater than $10,000. The award recipients are as follows:
- S&S Spray Foam Insulation (Lowville): $45,000 towards the purchase of a new spray foam system that will allow the addition of full time positions.
- Snow Ridge Resort (Turin): $30,000 towards interior upgrades in the Wax House to develop a four-season event venue.
- GreeneAcres Processing, LLC (Boonville): $25,000 towards the purchase of a multi-tier sickle bar to enable enhanced hemp harvesting operations by improving crop-cutting quality and efficiency.
The Small Things, Big Impacts Fund aims to support Lewis County businesses in enhancing their visibility through creative means in the community with matching grants between $500 and $1,000. The award recipients are as follows:
- Squishy’s BBQ & Catering (Lowville): $1,000 towards a branded vinyl wrap on a trailer.
- Harrisville Food Pantry (Harrisville): $450 towards two interchangeable signs to promote events and programs.
- Steeple & Hearth Marketing Collective (Lowville): $250 towards a branding project.
- North Country Property Maintenance (Lowville): $1,000 towards print and digital marketing materials including yard signs, website development, and promotional materials.
- Old Croghan Engine House (Croghan): $900 towards four exterior signs that will impact three commercial tenants.
Applications for the Small Things, Big Impacts Fund are open through December 5, 2024 with $5,000 in funding remaining for 2024.
Funds for this grant opportunity have been made available through the Lewis County Development Corporation’s Community Economic Development Program. The Program was created through a Host-Community Agreement with Number Three Wind; Number Three Wind has committee approximately $150,000 per year, for the next 30 years, to The Program. Applications for the Building Business Fund and Small Things, Big Impacts Fund underwent an evaluation process by the Community Economic Development Program Committee , which is comprised of local community members.
