Thursday, December 8, was a big day for Lewis County Industrial Development Agency. Governor Cuomo announced the results of the Empire State Development Grant Awards, that many of our Lewis County businesses applied for.
The Lewis County Commerce Park received $135,000 in ESD Grant Funds to help cover costs of planning, infrastructure and utilities that will create ready-to-develop ShovelReady sites.
The Commerce Park, located on State Route 26, just outside of Lowville, NY, will be home to over 30 acres of ShovelReady land. The Lewis County IDA will be focusing on marketing these sites to targeted industries: Agriculture and food processing, light industry, existing small businesses looking to expand, and possible Commercial.
In addition to ESD Grant Funding, Lewis County IDA also recieved, $27,775 from National Grid's ShovelReady Infrastructure Program. The Lewis County IDA is contracted with Bernier, Carr & Associates to undergo the initial engineering to create the ShovelReady certified park. Businesses looking to build on the Commerce Park will already have access to roads, water, sewer, electric, and utilities before construction starts.
